Cottages at The Vista is a collection of eight private, pet-friendly cottages tucked into a 187-acre working equestrian estate on the quieter eastern edge of Aiken, South Carolina. Whether you are here for a weekend escape, a family reunion, an equestrian visit, a wedding at The Overlook, or a few slow days near Augusta, the cottages give you space to settle in and truly slow down.
Each cottage is designed for real rest — full kitchens, screened porches, private bathrooms, hot tubs or sky porches, and views that change with the light. Six cottages sleep six, the two-bedroom Appaloosa sleeps seven, and The Mare & Stallion — the estate's three-bedroom flagship — sleeps up to eight.
Two cottage styles, eight distinct personalities
Our Style 1 cottages (The Thoroughbred, Appaloosa, Friesian) are one-story units with a screened porch on the field side. Style 2 cottages (The Clydesdale, Shetland, Mustang, Andalusian) have a sky porch on top for stargazing plus a screened porch below. The Mare & Stallion is our largest layout with three bedrooms across a main floor and loft.
Pet-friendly by design
Every cottage welcomes dogs. There are 187 acres of open fields and quiet paths to walk, and the cottages themselves were designed with traveling pets in mind — easy-clean surfaces, screened porches that keep bugs out, and a location well removed from town noise.

The Vista is about 15 minutes from downtown Aiken, 5 minutes from Hitchcock Woods, 10 minutes from Hopelands Gardens, and 45 minutes from Augusta National. It is the kind of place where you can spend all day in town and still feel like you got away.

The estate is home to a full equestrian schooling and event facility, so guests traveling with horses can arrange stall availability, access to the training rings, and use of the pastures with advance notice. Multi-cottage bookings for families or wedding parties are common — and the full-estate buyout is a popular option for milestone gatherings.

Seven of the eight cottages are two-bedroom units that sleep six to seven guests. The Mare & Stallion, our largest cottage, has three bedrooms and sleeps up to eight — ideal for family groups, gatherings, or friends traveling together.
Six of the eight cottages include private hot tubs on the screened porch. The Clydesdale and The Andalusian feature stargazer sky porches instead — open-air upper decks designed for enjoying the Aiken night sky.
